Welcome to Arlington WingTsun & Escrima!

WingTsun and Latosa Escrima follow the strategy of aggressive defense and understand there are no rules on the street. Both systems are brutally effective, yet simple to learn and execute. This is not martial sports; we are not interested in sport fighting or competition. We train for effectiveness in real world situations. As SiGung Keith R. Kernspecht says, "The best defense is the one that copes with the most attacks using the fewest number of techniques or movements". WingTsun and Latosa Escrima embody this definition of "best defense".

While it is best to avoid or walk away from trouble, you may not always have the opportunity to avoid physical attack. If it comes down to aggressively facing an attacker, you need the ability to leave him neither time nor space to organize his attack, putting him on the defense. WingTsun and Latosa Escrima accomplish this unlike any other self-defense system!

What makes WingTsun unique? Concepts!

  • Stay with what comes (intercept and move with, but don't block)
  • Follow through as it retreats (stick or cling to and crowd)
  • Strike as the hand/foot is freed (continuous forward pressure, all motions are concealed strikes)
  • Economy of motions (no wasted effort, simultaneous defense and attack!)
  • Continuity of attack (connected movements)
  • Sensitivity to greater force (controlled yielding)
  • Use of the Center-Line and Wedge Theories
  • Use of tactile reflexes and mechanical advantage
  • Exclusive chi sau and chi gerk training
  • No conventional blocks or high kicks
